Thanks to the recent win fall that came in the form of an $1,800 stimulus check from the government, a Harlingen area family can now watch the ongoing oil crisis in all its hi-definition glory.
Charles and Debra Wimberly have been pining after a ridiculously priced and unnecessarily large flat screen LCD television for several years. But until recently, it was a dream that was just out of their grasp.
"I guess when they first came out and were like, $15,000 we knew we had to have one", Debra Wimberly said. "Although they were out of our price range for a while, now thanks to President Bush's ill informed and misguided policy we were able to get something we wanted and left the bill for our children to pay. I love America!"

"Our children are enjoying it just as much as we are," Charles Wimberly said of the Sony Bravia 105" flat screen LCD. "Sure it was so huge that we could barely fit it through the door and of course we don't really watch it that much, but when the neighbors are asked who has the biggest, coolest tv on the block everyone will know who is number one. The rest of them are just pretenders!"
Indeed, when asked both Wimberly children admit that having the largest tv on the block intimidates their friends in a way that feels oh so good and yet oh so naughty. At five years old, even little Maggie understands the value of having the biggest and the best. She was recently overheard telling a playmate, 'Spongebob is twelve feet tall on my tv, how tall is he on yours? Not!' To which the little neighbor girl burst into tears. "The power that comes with this tv extends well beyond its physical dimensions," both parents agreed, nodding their heads in unison emphatically.
The eldest child, Allison is ten and has her own spin on being number one. "Sometimes at night when it's quiet and everyone is in bed, I just go stand in front of it. And if I let the power of the Sony wash over me just right, I can feel God's presence surrounding me. The other kids only wish they had that kind of connection to God. I know I am loved for Sony doth bless me."
When asked about the ongoing fuel price increases and whether or not the family's stimulus check would have been better spent providing for their own basic needs, Mr. Wimberly only snorted when he said, "Are you kidding? Who is going to both fear and respect me for saving my money for my kids and for gas? Please."
Other extended family members tried to intervene before the purchase was made, but to no avail. The girls' grandmother Beverly Carniero for instance only had this to say, "At first I was worried about the purchase, but after seeing it for myself I was so amazed I was speechless. I wept like I had just seen the face of a living angel. It's easy to get caught up in the power of that thing." At the time of this publication, Ms. Carniero has begun her relocation plans in order to be closer to the Bravia.
